Gappeq is a psychedelic trance project from Czech Republic. By the age of 17 he started to explore the realm of making electronic music, whether it be DnB, Breakbreat, Trance, Ambient, or Dub. By 1999 he had joined the band SM Lomoz as a keyboardist, and finally went onto starting to write both goa and psytrance by 2001.
He released many tracks on Sundance Records, Ketuh Records, Oxygen Records, Vertigo, Nabi, and Illuminati Records and done a lot of sounds and music for TV advertisements, independent movies, and websites. In 2006 he completed Audio Engineering at SAE Sydney.
Gappeq's tracks are often inspired by mythological characters, fantasy stories and religious themes and have deeply tribal atmosphere woven with twisted sounds, dark atmospheric textures and imaginative melodies. His musical background allows him to use more complicated musical forms and unusual tempo signatures.
Through his stay in Australia his sound developed a progressively harder and darker edge to it. He has tracks due out soon this year on, Om Veda Records and Parvati Records and has written a debut full-length album Speaker Seeker released on Wirikuta Recordings.
He has played around Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, India, Nepal, alongside the likes of Penta, Kindzadza, Psykovsky, Neuromotor, Syntax Error, Psysex, Wizack Twizack, Scorb, Luke Psywalker, Dark Nebula, Menog, Sensient, Mr Peculiar, Silent Sphere, Pondscum, Psyboriginal, Visual Paradox and many others.
