REVIEW WRITTEN BY Alex (scobbah) ON www.mandarin.nu
Our danish neighbours, Parvati Records, are once again back with another fullsmacked piece filled with twisted trance of the darker side to spice up the dancefloorexperience with, for those who does not fear loosing their sense when these heavy tunes flies out of the speakers. If you take a fast look on the compilation's ingredients, the urge of putting this piece in the stereo grows faster than you'd ever guess, since this piece delivers some of the most well established and respected artists when it comes to this kind of nightmusic.
Well packed with a beautiful cover, all in digipak style, the cd just laid there and took a nap to be prepared to put some motion to my dancenerves. This is not just only a musical journey thru time and space - this is Parvati - the total mindstate of organized chaos. It ain't gonna be much more twisted than this.
01 - Kindzadza Can You Feel It? -(08:25)
The russian coin in the shape of Kindzadza is always something you find familiar with, but at the same time none of his tracks sound like another. This is pure madness, and nowhere in this track you'll find mercy shown to your mental health. It's easier to relax and let go with the aggressive flow than trying to hold back and stand steady on both feets on the ground. This is definitely one of the best tracks I've heard so far from Kindzadza, and I just keep on wondering when some swede will avenge his fears and book this russian rocket to Sweden.
02 - N3XU5 - XXX (08:31)
The second track of the compilation takes an enormous breath, and releases a mad listeningexperience, but still there is parts who might feel a little bit empty compared to what they could've been (or should've been). But that's nothing who disturbs the total impression really, and the track's last two minutes is something miraculous and unbelieveable - full on terror for the psyche and pure hapiness for the ears - WOW!
03 - G.O.W - The Clit Commander (Insane Behaviour rmx) (07:22)
After two real aggressive's, it's time for for a track who breath more funk. I've been sitting a long time waiting for someone to release a track using this awesome vocalsampling, and here's the final product, delivered by the danish duo from Aarhus in a remixed version by Insane Behaviour. Some sounds who hides far and remote in the soundscape gets me thinking of small expressions a'la Astral Projection, but my mind stil does not think in goa scales. An ingrediense who is more danceable and funky, but not as spicy - which makes this track's position and timing exellent after the excursions with Kindzadza and N3XU5.
04 - Naked Tourist - One Piece (07:42)
The german duo of Naked Tourist throws themselves into battle with a track who's not as groovy as the manga with the same name, but it ain't really making up a good deal with the rest of this compilation either. It's a little bit more laidback track who delivers both twists and vibrations, but it requires more than this to be a gold piece after you've been served with this compilations three previous tracks. The track ain't bad for real, but it just does not fit hand in hand with this compilation.
05 - Toxic - Violent (07:00)
"Violent" is a seven minutes long repetitive journey with the compilation's definitely best break. A playfull vibe is served, and it's quite easy to feel that the delivers of this vibe knows well what they're controlling. All though I have to whine about those repetitive sounds who wanders time from time in the soundscape, but in general this track is a pure dancefloorgiant. To be served at it's best with a cool drink on the dancefloor!
06 - Para Halu - Da Killah (09:09)
The compilation's longest track is a real nightmare who takes the shape of audio, with twisted vocals who brings a smile upon your lips, and with an enormous groove on the trip out in the Hungarian night. Also here, I can sense a playfull vibe, and this is really music who flies out of the speakers and gets everyone smiling. I think Fred Krueger has gotten himself an respected opponent in the struggle of who's best at spooking up the brain!
07 - Jahbo - Morphadelic (07:37)
More Aarhusmusic is on the way in when Jahbo takes tone, and after a wide spectrum of sick excursions, something that might be the most funny thing I've heard in a long time kicks in after about six minutes into the track. This is pure serotonin in the shape of audio, definitely a dancefloorgiant in the darkness of the night. A perfect session for all DJ's to be prepared with in their case at those groovy parties of this summer.
08 - Insane Behaviour - Wrong Doze (Syntax Error rmx) (07:27)
A more funky and groovy experience is served when you take a closer look to the eigth track of this compilation. It's just almost about too much who's happening at the same time from time to time. It's at the border of being too much for the mind to deal with, and sometimes it's close the border of being a pure mess too. Despite that, the track's better parts raises the judgement literally, and it's difficult to quit moving the foot to the beats when my ear's are fed with this organized noise. A real punch in the tummy and a huge clap in the back at the same time, one hard-to-melt steamwheeler at the dancefloor who even gets the most tired person to move the legs!
09 - G.O.W - All Your Base R Belong To Us (06:14)
It's difficult to put words to what must've been going on in the head of Jaffa and Monno when this track was set to life. Nothing is put where it should and nothing is like it should be, but still it all fits together like a paris wheel and an amusement park. We're on the top of the pariser wheel, and everything is just about to explode to pieces and an unpleasent landing is to expect after about six minutes of squeezing the borders of sound to a new level. Organized chaos at a high level and the whole impression feels like a superb finish of this compilation's journey.
Summary
Our danish neighbours has made it once again, and it feels like a big emptyness after this cd has gone to it's end. The body screams for more, and I really hope that the market will turn even more towards the nightmusic and Parvati after this twisted release. As in times like these when quantity and money is put a head in front of quality and vibe, Parvati comes like a modern superhero without Batmansuite, and strikes out evil and re-establis order in the world.
Thanks Parvati!

Review:
Corrupters of the trance-youth!
Danish hyper psy-trance label Parvati Records are out with their 6th instalment. This time another compilation Ill never quite understand Parvatis method of counting releases, but supposedly this is the follow-up to Psychedelically Yours released in 2002Â
I thoroughly enjoyed the last compilation ÂThird Step which was packed with crazy full-on night tunes with all kinds of funny samples  I like that kinda stuff! Anyway, Parvati Records pioneered the insane-hyper-ChemicalCrew-full-on-dark-mayhem-trance style long before it became Âtrendy on the sceneÂ
TheyÂve been doing that stuff for yearsÂ
But enough labelling for now, letÂs get on with the important stuff -- letÂs see what the crazy Malling-crew have to offer this timeÂ
;o)
Let me take you thru the tracks
#01: [149 BPM] First up is some dark Russian vodka-trance from KindzadzaÂ
It should come as no surprise that this is an extremely fast-paced, hard-hitting acid stomperÂ
Packed with crazy loops, whistles, bells, pitched-up modem sounds and all kinds of terror-ingredientsÂ
This is pedal-to-the-metal full-on night-time tranceÂ
A little to hectic for home-listening, but IÂm sure itÂll work wonders @ 5 oÂclock in the morning when the trance-floor is packedÂ
Oh, and itÂs a great help when youÂre testing if youÂve rigged your sound-system properlyÂ
Nice track!
#02: [146 BPM] Mr. Lopez from Portugal is up nextÂ
We launch straight into some porn dialogue from some horny chick ÂI think I have to be gentle  mmm  weÂre gonna hafta go very slowÂÂ
Right, so the mood is set  break out the bass drum! Lopez has chosen a slightly more tribal approach  tribal percussion mixed with metallic steel-drums Â
and the horny girl laughing, muttering and saying Âooops over and over againÂ
Throughout the track, the thick acid squelches are blasting away in the backgroundÂ
ÂYouÂre a kinky one arenÂt you? Twisted track!
#03: [146 BPM] After a brutal acid-intro GOW throws a Jay & Silent Bob quote at us: ÂRemember this fucking face! Wherever you see clit you'll see this fucking face! I make that shit work! No one rules the clit like me! Not this little fuck, none of you little fucks out there! I am the master of the clit! Right, now that we have that settled, we can move onÂ
The acid is running even stronger in this track  full power, unmistakeable nite-mayhemÂ
Not for the faint-hearted, but for a good laugh and some serious head-banging itÂs perfect!
#04: [146 BPM] I hardly know anything about Naked Tourist  Âcept theyÂve released a few tracks on a couple of German compilationsÂ
Nice watery intro  brutally interrupted by a banging bass and some fucked-up twisted noiseÂ
This is a bit more minimal than the first 3 tracks, with a more soothing atmosphereÂ
As soothing as twisted full-on night-trance can be!
#05: [144 BPM] Toxic from Israel launches their violent tuneÂ
This is more like tech-trance with tiny bits of melodyÂ
The first 4 minutes is pretty much only hard-core bassline, but it takes an interesting turn after thatÂ
They break out all the effects and they sure know how to twist those knobsÂ
Tweaking extreme! The toxic acid is running strongÂ
Sweet track!
#06: [148 BPM] ÂFaaaaaaaaaalling down LetÂs turn our focus to Hungary and the sound of Para HaluÂ
Never heard of them before, but this is another very dark, spooky night trackÂ
The Gregorian chants add to the atmosphereÂ
As with most tracks on Parvati Recs, this track has a sense of humour, and there are loads of funny movie-samples which lighten things up a bitÂ
Oh, and you might think itÂs over and done with @ 6Â44 Â but youÂre in for a surpriseÂ
A stomping, fast-paced, rolling Halloween-trance trackÂ
Brutal track!
#07: [148 BPM] WeÂre back in Ã
rhus, Denmark now  with a track by Jahbo, known for his tracks on other horror-trance compilations suck as Psychovader (Apoxina) and Night 24 Hours (Inpsyde Media)Â
Brutal, dark, twisted  acid squelches and sequencer overdrive Â
I canÂt make out all parts of the Danish sample ÂNÃ¥r jeg drøner afsted, sÃ¥ ændresÂ
.? Â
Check out the funny old-school piano bit @ 6,07 Â
CanÂt wait to hear that on the dance floor - Pure fodder for the hardened trance-aholics!
#08: [148 BPM] More Danes  remixing DanesÂ
So, whatÂs a wrong doze? When you sleep at an inappropriate time of day? It should come as no surprise that this is another extremely dark, demented tuneÂ
A dark, yet somewhat groovy bass line sets the pace - Twisted sci-fi samples and FX are sprinkled throughout the track Â
Truly unruly! Ha!
#09: [150 BPM] Remember the ÂAll Your Base Are Belong To Us quote from the 1989 Zero Wing video game? Now here is Grapes of WrathÂs tribute to the internet cult phenomenonÂ
This is the fastest track on the compilation  so forget about chilling out with the last trackÂ
High-pitched acid-lines, digital burps and electronic fartsÂ
And of course the notorious deep, dark beatsÂ
Hold on to your hats  this is a mad ride!
As always with Parvati, the artwork is subtle, yet very fitting to the musicÂ
It presents a professional, yet underground look - I like it! LetÂs talk about the important thing: The Music. Personally I have mixed feelings about this releaseÂ
Generally I like it, but not unconditionallyÂ
I really, really enjoy the energy that these guys put forth  itÂs so relentless and packed with humour. I like that the artists doesnÂt take themselves too damn serious  and oh, how I love a good acid line, and there are plenty of those hereÂ
But as I said, I do not like this unconditionally - ItÂs the same feeling I get when listening to Finnish tranceÂ
Allow me to quote myself from another review: ÂI can only cope with [it] for a limited time in one listening session  after a while it gets too intense for meÂ
[Â
] So I prefer to take [it] in small dosesÂ
Kinda like a bottle of whiskey Â
3-4 shots are nice, but drinking the whole bottle will leave you sickÂ
 Â
And I guess I feel the same way about thisÂ
I also prefer to take this in smaller dosesÂ
This is even darker than last yearÂs Parvati compilation ÂThird Trip which I really likedÂ
ItÂs somewhat repetitive at times, and I could have wished for even more variationÂ
In the promotional material for this release Parvati Records describes the sound as ÂCrushing strong beats, vicious sequences, clear twisting synth layers and abused sampling manipulationÂÂ
Very true! This is pure Ânoise attack if I have to put it in Skazi-termsÂ
They continue with ÂA compilation that will make the believers stronger and will push away the non-believers Â
Also very trueÂ
IÂm positive that this will be an instant favourite among the many fans of dark, twisted, underground horror-trance  but IÂm also sure, that fans of melodic, floating trance will be repulsed by the perverse, evil sounds hereÂ
But as always, tastes differ and the diversity is the beauty of our sceneÂ
Enjoy!
